Topaz is a lovely option for jewellery, but it does need to be treated with care. It is a relatively hard gemstone, however it can be sensitive to knocks, so the design and setting really matter, especially if it is being made into a ring.

For someone wanting a gemstone with colour, brightness and a little bit of individuality, topaz can be a beautiful choice.

Topaz

Topaz is one of those gemstones people often think they know, but it has far more depth than its reputation suggests. It can be beautifully clear and bright, with a crisp sparkle that feels quite different to a diamond or sapphire. While blue topaz is the colour most people recognise, topaz can also be found in warm golden tones, soft peach, pink, champagne and the highly sought-after imperial shades. I especially love topaz when it has warmth to it. Those golden, peachy colours can feel very old-world and romantic, while the cleaner blues can bring a fresh, easy elegance to a piece.
