Emerald, Porcelain and Platinum Earrings

Celebrating 20 Years of Marriage: Bespoke Anniversary Earrings

These elegant, handcrafted earrings were created to mark the 20th wedding anniversary of close friends of mine. Inspired by the traditional 20th anniversary gifts—Porcelain, Emerald, and Platinum—I set out to craft a design that would weave together all three materials in a meaningful and beautiful way. The journey was as special as the result, blending creative exploration, craftsmanship, and heartfelt intention.

Starting with porcelain, I sourced a vintage side plate and, after hours of shaping and refining it (and learning that tile cutters could have made things much easier!), I achieved the custom-cut pieces I envisioned. For the porcelain I start out with curved Sterling Silver settings, meticulously moulded by hand to fit the contour of the plate. These settings were then cast in 9ct White Gold, providing a luxurious and timeless base.

For a dazzling finish, Platinum settings featuring delicate granules were paired with raw Emerald slices and faceted Emeralds, all carefully assembled to create a piece that feels organic, elegant, and truly one of a kind. Each material was given its moment to shine, with the raw beauty of the Emeralds balancing the refined sophistication of the Porcelain, White Gold and Platinum.

This project challenged me, inspired me, and brought me immense joy. From scouring vintage shops to setting the pieces of porcelain myself, every step was a labour of love. The final result? A pair of light, graceful, and meaningful earrings that will serve as a lasting symbol of 20 years of shared memories. It's been an honour to craft such a special gift and be a small part of my friends’ beautiful journey together.
